Facebook Timeline Launches for Businesses

The much anticipated transition to the new Facebook layout is upon us. The new Timeline format is being rolled out to business users sitewide on March 30, 2012. So, let Orion help you with the change and assist in building a new page that utilizes all the features the new timeline has to offer. Follow some quick steps to insure your profile will be ready for the changes, making sure you don’t end up with a Facebook Fail.

Profile Image

Note the new dimensions of the default image are square. While your current image may fit well in the existing space, the new format may crop off a piece of your brand logo or center it in an unattractive way. Take some time to reposition the thumbnail so that it appears in the way you like, and even think about a brand new image to be sure you take full advantage of this now, much smaller space.

Banner Photo

This panoramic image can be a great place to tell a story about your brand. Though not meant for advertising or self-promotion, the banner image can still share a powerful message about your company’s culture, history, or philosophy. Be sure to use a high-resolution image since the details will really show here, and consider bringing in a graphic designer who can create a new image that is specifically crafted for this space.

Company History

This process will take some dedication by your page administrators, but the effort will be well worth it. The new layout allows businesses to go back in time to enter milestones in their company history, giving a richer picture of where the company came from and how they got to where they are now. You can even add photos to your milestone entries, bringing your business character and personality that humanize your brand in a way that the previous format could not.

Keep Calm and Publish

Change is scary for many people, especially when they have gotten settled into a routine. This is where you need to just relax and know that everything is going to be okay. The Facebook-universe likes to mix things up once in awhile, so embrace the change. Many of the features are actually great tools for engaging with your fans, which is truly the point of having a social media presence, after all.

Orion Creative Group is happy to guide you through the process-- whether you are well established in Facebook or just starting out. For some inspiration, take a cue for our own page. While there, post a comment and get connected with Orion Creative Group!

Thanks for the creative support and technical skills which brought my web site from a concept to fruition. It was a business, but also a pleasure working with you. Our collaborative efforts made this site simple, but brought home the messages I wanted. In my almost 40 years of experience as an accountant, controller, CFO and CEO, I have learned to appreciate an ability to meet deadlines and simply do what is asked and what is promised. I wish I could say that all my history with programmers and web site developers was as such...you are certainly in the top 10% in my book.
